Mounting mirror profile

To mount a mirror wall in a propper way, you will need the right materials and equipment. Keep in mind that success depends on placing the profiles exactly right.

Drilling holes in the profile

The mirror profiles have no holes drilled into it. We will have to do that accordingly to the size of the mirrors that will be placed into it. At every corner of a mirror we will need 2 holes. If two panels meet, you will need 4 holes. 2 for every corner!

We will need 2 profiles, 1 for the bottom and 1 for the top. They are exactly the same and will be mounted on to the wall by drilling holes into the longer side. How many holes and where you will need to drill them depends on the mirror panel size and the wall the profile is mounted on. Use a 6mm iron drill if you use 6mm thick screws.

If all holes are made, we can hold the profile to the wall and mark the place where we will have to drill holes in the wall. Make sure you start with the bottom profile and check if it is level.

Which screw and plug to use

Use the propper plugs. You will need a different plug for a brick wall than you will for a wall made of plasterboard. A wall made of plasterboard is mounted on beams that have a standard space between each one of them (if professional placed that is). Look for those beams and attach the profile with a screw directly on to them if possible. Make sure you use flat-head screws. If the corner of a mirror lies between two beams, make sure you attach the profile there as well, use a hollow wall plug.

For non solid walls you will need a hollow wall plug, which one depends on the material and how thick the material is. If you are not sure which plug to use, write down the thickness and used material and go to a local construction market. The people there can advise you which plug to use.

Flat-head screws!

On a brick or concrete wall you can use normal wall plugs. The screws however need to be screws with a flat head. This way you wont risk to damage the mirror glass by scratching on a screw thats head pops out of the profile to far.

Mounting the profile

mirror profile

If a professional profile is used (see the picture) you will have a profile of approximatly 3,5cm height at the back and 2,5cm at the front. For the bottom profile, the part of the profile that is higher at the back points up and on the top profile the longer part on the backside points down.

The distance between the bottom und top profile depends on the height of the panels used.

Placing the mirror panels

- sliding them in form the side

A very tricky and not recommended way to place them. However, sometimes there is no other way. If you havent got suction cups for example.

If you slide the mirror panels in from the side, the top profile can be placed lower. Please make sure you have the total length of the bottom profile filled with a strip with the propper height. The strip prevents the mirror from damaging. Glass on metal is a guarantee for chips of glass breaking of.

- Placing them by lifting them into the profile from the front

If you place the mirror panels the propper way, you will need suction cups.

First of all, place wooden strips in the bottom profile. At each corner of a mirror a strip of at least 6m. These strips should be heigh enough to make sure the panels have enough hold in the top profile.

Now place the suction cups on the front of the mirror and lift the panel with them into the top profile. Be gentle and make sure you dont hit the wall or a panel next to it. If the panel is pushed into the top profile far enough, you can push the panel to the wall to let it slide into the bottom one.

Always check if the panel has enough hold in the top profile!

Take your time! Place each panel with care!
